Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying gentle pressure to the feet or hands. It’s based on the idea that certain points on the feet and hands correspond to organs and glands in the body

Welcome To Five Rise Reflexology Bingley

Hello, and welcome to Five Rise Reflexology Bingley! I’m Fiona and trained as a reflexologist in 2020 alongside working as a Registered Nurse. I was inspired to train as a reflexologist after receiving reflexology treatment for many years and enjoying the numerous benefits of it.

More recently I have trained in the technique of Hot Stones Reflexology to add to the treatments on offer. This is a luxurious treatment which is especially enjoyable in the cold winter months.

As well as being an extremely relaxing treatment, reflexology is beneficial for stimulating the circulation as well as the immune system and encourages the body to heal itself. The theory behind reflexology is that the feet are mini maps of the body. During reflexology, pressure is applied with the finger or thumb to specific areas of the feet encouraging holistic healing and restoring balance in the body.

About Reflexology Treatment

Before the reflexology treatment, you will be asked about your medical history, and if there are any areas that you would particularly like me to focus on when delivering the treatment. You will be invited to remove your footwear and make yourself comfortable on the couch. I will at first gently massage each foot to aid relaxation and then work on the pressure points in each foot individually. Sometimes areas of the feet can feel a little tender if there is an imbalance there, this is nothing to be concerned about. It is very relaxing and it is not uncommon to fall asleep whilst receiving treatment! The whole treatment lasts for around 50 minutes.

About Thai Foot Massage

The preparation for Thai Foot Massage is exactly the same as for reflexology, with the addition of allowing access to your lower legs up to your knees. I will commence the treatment by relaxing your feet, and then work on the pressure points in your feet using a wooden Thai massage stick rather than my fingers and thumbs. I will then use Thai massage techniques to massage your lower legs. There can be contra-indications for this treatment such as severe varicose veins and a previous history of blood clots in the legs. The treatment lasts for around one and a quarter hours, and you will need to wear something that allows me to access your lower legs up to your knees.

About Hot Stones Reflexology Treatment

Hot stones reflexology uses warm stones, and they are applied to the feet during the reflexology treatment. The benefits of this are that the warmth to your feet enhances the effect of the treatment and can also boost circulation in the feet. It is extremely relaxing and adds another dimension to the treatment. Treatment lasts between 75 and 90 minutes.

All of these treatments can offer a wide range of benefits from relaxation, helping with sleep problems, alleviating many symptoms of common illnesses, and promoting healing. If you have any questions please contact me. I have over 30 years of experience and clinical knowledge from working as a nurse, as well as being trained in these therapies. One of my strengths is putting people at ease and I would love to welcome you to my relaxation room and share the benefits of these amazing treatments.
